1. PREFACE :
Expansion of health care facilities, growing complexity and advancement of medical technology have substantially enhanced the need for nurse, hence Sri Aurobindo Seva Kendra(A unit of EEDF), a hundred-fifty five bedded hospital, has taken the initiative to start a school of nursing in the name of :
SRI AUROBINDO SEVA KENDRA SCHOOL OF NURSING,
and its situated at:-
84 A, Sarat Ghosh Garden Road, Kolkata -700 031
SRI AUROBINDO SEVA KENDRA SCHOOL OF NURSING is recognized by Govt. of West Bengal, West Bengal Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council (New Delhi - 110002 ).
3. COURSE DETAILS
i. The course is known as “Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery” – (GNM)
ii. The syllabus for the GNM course is in accordance with the Syllabus and Regulations laid down by the Indian Nursing Council.
iii. It is a regular and Residential Training Course.
iv. The session starts from 1st September Every Year.
v. Seats Available: 25 (Twenty five only).
3.1 COURSE DURATION
GNM Training period is - 3 years and 6 months.
|Gender||: Only female candidates.|
|Age limit||: Between 17 to 27 years within 1st September of the prevalent year.|
|Educational Qualification||: Higher Secondary (10+2) passed or its Equivalent. 40% marks in Compulsory subjects in any stream, preferably science.|
|Language||: Able to read, write and Speak in Bengali and English.|
|Residential Certificate||: Candidate should be a Citizen of India & a resident of West Bengal at least for last 5 (five) years uninterruptedly, preceding the date of application for admission to the nursing school.|
The residential certificate should be duly signed by any of the Authorities as mentioned in the Prospectus.

5. PROCESS OF SELECTION AND ADMISSION
i. Candidate should apply addressing to the Principal of SASK School of Nursing. 84A, Sarat Ghosh Garden Road, Kolkata 700 031
ii. All Application Forms duly filled in along with 3 (three) Passport Size photographs and attested photocopies of all testimonials should reach the office not later than 30.06.2014. Late applications will not be accepted.
iii. Only eligible candidates shall be called for the Written Test.
iv. The candidate who qualifies in the Written Test, shall only be called for Interview.
v. Selection will be strictly on the Merit basis.
vi. Medical Fitness:
a. Candidates should be medically fit. The medical examination on admission has to be done from:
Sri Aurobindo Seva Kendra, 1H, Gariahat Road (S), Kolkata 700 068.
b. Hepatitis- B inoculation is compulsory prior to admission.
c. In case, vaccination is completed, a certificate from concerned Medical Officer has to be submitted along with the application.
d. The expenses for both Medical Check Up, before admission, and the Annual Health Check up after admission, during the training period have to be borne by the Candidate.
Medical Check UP - Rs. 1000.00
Annual Health Check Up - Rs. 500.00
e. During the training period, in case of any unforeseen Health Problem requiring hospitalization or surgical intervention, the presence of either of the parents / local guardian is mandatory.
Students should wear uniform authorized by the SASK School of Nursing and the same should be purchased by the student themselves.
7. TEXT BOOKS
The text books and exercise copies and other essential stationeries should be purchased by the students, as and when required.
All students must abide by the Rules & Regulations laid down by the Nursing School Authority. Personal conduct, attitude, self-discipline shall be given considerable importance apart from the Academic Performance. Decision of the School Authority shall be final in this regard. Training will be discontinued if any student is found involved in any illegal activity. Every student shall have to attend all (100%) practical classes.
30 days Annual Leave, 10 days Sick Leave, 7 days Preparatory Leave and 20 Gazetted Holidays per year are admissible.
After successful completion of three years of course work, the candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 4000/- per month for the next six (6) months (ie during the internship period).
